Full-Time Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant

We are a fast-paced company located in Brampton, ON. We are looking for a Full-Time Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate must be an experienced bookkeeper, well organized, with attention to details, someone who does not get rattled under pressure. You have great customer service skills, you are proficient in Simply Accounting and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook etc), and must be fluent in English. If you are positive, a quick-learner detail oriented and work well independently as well as part of a team then this is the job for you!

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Establish and maintain financial records and chart of accounts using Simply Accounting

  • Maintain and update bookkeeping policies and procedures used for recording financial transactions

  • Work collaboratively with Management Team and Corporate Accountant as required

  • Check and verify accuracy of source documents submitted such as invoices, receipts, statements, etc.

  • Post journal entries, reconcile and balance all accounts

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable including payments received via credit card

  • Prepare and reconcile cheques, bank deposits, and other payments as required

  • Comply with relevant reporting requirements by completing and filing required reports

  • Create, update and maintain employee records

  • Prepare and balance appropriate T4 series forms

  • Prepare financial statements including trial balance, income statement, balance sheet, etc. Maintain complete filing system to support financial records

  • Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends for the Corporate Accountant

  • Assist with audits as required

  • Prepare information regularly as required by Corporate Accountant

  • Advise Management Team on needed actions

  • Address and respond to inquiries regarding finances

  • Contribute to a positive, professional and team oriented atmosphere

  • Perform clerical and other related duties as required

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2 years bookkeeping and payroll experience

  • Detail, Confidentiality, Thoroughness, Simply Accounting, Excel, MS Word

  • In depth knowledge of Revenue Canada regulations, Labour Standards requirements, WSIB, and HST and ability to clearly and effectively lead communications with all parties

  • Strong computer skills including internet use and Microsoft Office suite

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Capacity to establish priorities and work under pressure

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing workloads

  • Problem solving and attention to detail

  • Ability to think critically and make sound decisions

  • Ability to work and think independently without direct supervision

Salary is $35,000+ based on experience and qualifications
